Rogge Family Forest and Snow Session {Alta Lake}

We finally have real snow over here and it’s always a good Christmas when you get to have snow to make it that much more magical, especially for little kids who are enthralled with it!  This session actually was not predicted to have snow during the time we planned but that didn’t last for long!  Although this was the first time meeting the Rogge family, I was so happy when the snow didn’t bother them at all, in fact the end of the session ended with a family snowball fight!
I’ve never actually had a group willing to do something like that and it was a blast!  Plus it was at the end so hair and outfits were already documented ;)

This group was so patient and happy!  Even though I’m used to chasing little people around for photos it was a nice change to have everyone look at me and smile at the same time without busting out the “Baby Shark” song!

This family loves their Seahawks and the way that they incorporated that into their pictures was great since it really is part of their story and true to them!  (I had them do a 12 sign but I actually have no idea if the Seahawks actually have a special sign so someone tell me if they do!)

The Hinckley Family Lake Session {Alta Lake}

This year I’ve had so many families that I’ve seen in past years and that adds so much to the experience because I always have some ideas of what the kids are interested in and a better idea of what it means to truly capture their personalities.  The Hinckley family and I have done had several sessions over the years and every time it just gets better and better.  This day started with the weather looking perfect, and then suddenly from out of the blue there was a small storm that decided to blow up right in our location.  Some families might have been deterred but when you have four boys I’m pretty sure that basically means you always come equipped for anything!  The boys may have taken a little coaxing to come out of their shell in the whipping wind and rain but before long they were helping me find all kinds of things we could use for them to jump off and adventure through.

On another note, it might be more common to “photoshop” things like a little guy’s hair blowing in the wind but I really adore those type of shots because it shows just how soft and feathery that little hair is, so I tend to save any photoshop for anything that detracts from the feeling of the picture rather than just adding to the reality of the moment.

Yojaira's Senior Lake Session {Alta Lake}

I don’t know if I just feel this way every fall or if it really is just more brilliantly colorful this year, but regardless I’m absolutely loving how much color I have found in my area!  Everywhere I look there are the brightest most amazing scenes and the fact that I get to take advantage of those colors makes me really happy!  I’m just soaking it all up now so that I can remember this during the drab days of winter when it’s so monotone.

When I think of my time with Yojaira one of the words that I would use to describe the time with her was, peaceful, she was so laid back and calm, the entire time. I think the pictures we did in this setting capture that essence perfectly.  She is loving her time in her last high school season of volleyball and the part she is the most excited for this year is graduation (which tends to be the trend with my seniors this year! :))

This time of year just happens to be really busy for my entire family with Kyle coaching in the evenings and weekends so more often than not I end up toting my little ones along for the ride and usually they are very content with that arrangement since it means they get to explore while I work.  For this session Yojaira brought along two of her best friends and my kids thought that just meant she brought along playmates ;) so we were all happy with that arrangement!  I loved my time with the most beautiful Yojaira and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening!

Karina's Fall Lake and Brewster Senior Session {Alta Lake and Brewster}

 If there was one word to describe these sessions, it would be colorful!  Both locations that we worked in were amazing with the light, especially on the first night in Brewster by the river.  This time of year is the best time for many reasons but the range of colors is by far my favorite.  I'm always stalking my favorite places for weeks as the leaves start to go from green to more of a lime to a yellow or whatever other color they will be so that I can pack in as many sessions as possible once this array of beauty fully hits!  I have known the beautiful Karina since she was in middle school and transferred to Brewster so it doesn't seem possible that she will be graduating in a few short months!

While we were doing her sessions I found out that she is planning to pursue dental hygiene after high school at my personal favorite, Eastern Washington University!  She will be joining quite a few of Brewster's past graduates there and I know she is going to thrive in that environment!  No matter what I asked her to do, (even accidentally asking her to walk through goat heads!)  she was willing to make her senior pictures the best possible, I loved every minute with her and am thrilled with how these turned out!!
