Daniel's Senior Session {Chelan}

I live in one of the most beautiful places in Washington so it's really exciting to me when people ask me to be their photographer while on vacation!  This senior was visiting from the west side of the state and we used his favorite locations for this session.  Daniel had a vision and some ideas for his senior pictures but at the same time was so easygoing and fun to work with.  I always love getting to know a little bit about the seniors I'm working with and I learned that Daniel is really passionate about Young Life and wanted to make sure that his pictures reflected that.  From my time with him I could tell that he values relationships and even participates in track to have another place to hang out with friends!

The Coffman Family {Pateros}

Recently I’ve started blogging all my sessions, there are a lot of reasons behind this, but one of my favorite pieces is to stop and take a moment to remember all the parts of a session, the weather, anything that happened that may have been unexpected and just to document the time I spent with the people I get to share life with.  I know in a world where so much of our connection comes from the internet taking a second to step back and be present is not to be taken for granted.  My goal in a session is to make a connection, not just for the photography aspect but because this business and what I do is meaningless if I don’t have a purpose through it.  I truly believe that my purpose in this is not just to document a story but to build lasting relationships and to celebrate with you!

Summer is filled with family moments and exciting celebrations and the Coffman family was the best way to end a summer night.  As soon as we got to this lovely location, Raelyn bounded out of the car and started telling me all kinds of stories, two seconds later she grabbed my hand and the rest of the night flew by as we got went on a tour of everything from horses to the river.  When we were planning the session Hanna mentioned to me that this summer marks their ten year wedding anniversary and because of that we took these on the breathtaking property where they said their vows.  I always love to hear pieces of a family’s story and a location with meaning is just the best way to remember and take in all that the last ten years have meant.  When someone is excited to take pictures just the two of them it makes my heart so happy!

Roman's First Birthday {Brewster}

This is just a tad late...but Roman turned one and I couldn't miss the chance to document his first birthday.  Roman is one of the most serious little people that you could meet and smiles are only given when you legitimately earn them so thankfully I got a couple but they were few!  Don't let his seriousness fool you though, he genuinely loves being outside and if he could just live out there I think he would choose that over ever coming indoors or wearing shoes.  He is still the most snuggly little boy on the planet and is almost always smiling if he's with anyone that has earned his favor ;)

We had a little circus party at our house and he was pretty content to just observe all the kids playing games.  He is not a huge cupcake fan even if they are homemade.  Both times he got a cupcake, he tossed it right off the tray and was more concerned about getting the frosting off his hands and being out of the high chair.

Roman, you are just the best addition to our family and personally I'm really glad I have one observant little mover that occasionally wants to just slow down and watch the world with me.  Adventuring with you this year has been a delight!  We love everything about you!

 A little fun fact about his name banner, it was also on his hospital bassinet so if you've been following me for a bit, you've seen it before.  It's from one of my favorite shops Haven + Pine.

Another outfit by the best little small shop we love supporting! Happy Hippie Hipster

 This cake masterpiece was made by the one and only Wendy whom Kamden claimed/adopted when he visited her chickens for the first time as his Brewster grandma and thankfully she let us continue visiting those chickens!

Dannaca Thompson {Brewster}

This delightful little girl has already gotten the memo that good things are worth waiting for since she decided she wasn’t ready to meet the her family until a couple days after her actual due date.  But now that she’s arrived she is just the perfect addition to the Thompson family and getting to do newborn pictures for them first with Graham and now with Dannaca has been wonderful.  For both of their newborn sessions, they were so excited I came to visit them that they just couldn’t sleep at first. ;) I actually really enjoy when that happens for a newborn session because it means more time to hold them and learn about their little personalities.  Now Graham is an amazing big brother and I’m sure this girl is going to be well protected when she grows up.  Sometimes I have to be creative in the ways that older siblings get to participate in the session with the tiniest member of the family because the exuberance is just a little hard to contain! However, Graham was the most calm and collected little guy I have ever encountered at his age and sat so perfectly still while we were letting him hang out with his new sister.  I was amazed at how easygoing he was even though he’s not even two!

One part I loved about Dannaca’s story is that her parents didn’t know whether she was a girl or boy before she was born and I’ve learned after not finding out with my own two that it is one of the best surprises!  She also has part of her name in common with her grandma that I know will be so meaningful to her family as she grows up.

Dannaca was only 5 days old at the time of this session and since she was still so used to being curled up, she was great at showing those sweet baby rolls and getting all swaddled and cozy.  I quickly figured out what she liked and didn’t, and as soon as that happened she was so content!  I really do adore newborns and always have, from the time I was really young I was always trying to hold babies and the fact that I now get to hang out and play with newborns all the time is just the best feeling in the world!  Congratulations Thompson family!

 The best little details!

 Isn't he the sweetest little guy ever?!
