Navarro Family {Lake Chelan}

This night was extra special because it was the day before Gabi would graduate from high school!  We’ve known the Navarro family for the last several years and one of the reasons I love them is because Gabi has been one of Kamden’s favorite people!  She is so great with kids and helps out with his class at our church. Since he was little he was always excited when she was one of the first people he would get to see and couldn’t wait to have me drop him off so he could play with her.

Summer in our area can mean perfect sunny days where beach time is mandatory or some kind of crazy weather that you are never sure exactly what will happen.  This day just happened to be one of those days where we weren’t sure what would happen from one moment to the next and although the wind came up for some of this session, the Navarro family didn’t let it bother them one bit.  I love when there are moments that pop up throughout my time with a family that are totally unplanned and perfect and this family had a lot of those. They genuinely love being together and have a lot of fun.  When I asked Gabi to tell a story as they were walking around the beach, she didn’t miss a beat and thoroughly entertained everyone, which I’m guessing actually happens a lot,  even when there’s not a photo session going on.  This family has a huge heart for the community and serve it in so many ways, a lot of those ways are not the front and center stage but behind the scenes, taking care of all the details to make people’s lives better and more enjoyable.

Tim & Jenna's Rustic Summer Wedding {Kalispell, MT}

One year ago today Tim and Jenna got married at one of the most gorgeous venues I have ever been to.  But really this story goes back much further.  When I was in 3rd grade I first met Jenna and if you know her, you know that she is the most friendly, amazing person, with the sweetest personality and just brings everyone around her into her contagious joy.  I remember how even though I had to change schools after that year she still made an effort to hang out and call just to catch up and if that’s what she was like in 3rd grade, she has just continued to be even more of the most giving, kind and inviting person!

Although I didn’t meet Tim until the wedding day I could tell how much he just adores Jenna and how much they fit perfectly together.  They may be opposites in some ways, she’s more outgoing and he’s more reserved, for one. But together they compliment each other in the best ways.

The breathtaking day started in the heart of Montana in Kalispell at the Diamond B ranch.  If you know anything about Montana you know that the people are incredibly sweet, friendly and genuine (at least that is my experience!).  The entire day echoed that feeling with people just loving being together and watching these two enjoy their perfect day.  The picturesque mountains in the background, surrounded by rich green grass and pastureland just made this the most relaxing spot to unwind and be present in the day.  There are very few weddings I have encountered that had such a peaceful atmosphere.  One of the pieces I loved about our experience with Tim and Jenna is that even though your wedding day is literally supposed to be about only the two people, they found a way to honor and bless almost everyone they came into contact with. One of the times this stood out to me was when they set aside time to give special gifts to Tim’s daughters that were meant to serve as a reminder of how this was the day the 4 of them became a family which I thought was such a sweet way to focus on the important part of marriage, that it is about a new family being formed, not just individuals.

Another story that I thought was so special was when Jenna and her mom and I were together in the getting ready process Jenna told me how when her older sister got married her mom did her flowers and Jenna knew she just needed her mom to do them on her wedding day as well even though she was much younger.  Staying true to that her mom put together the most lovely bouquets and some of my very favorite colors, I love how bright and unique the flowers are!

At dinner there was special thought put into the menu so that every guest present would be able to eat something. From the homemade desserts to main courses they didn’t overlook anyone’s possible dietary needs and while this may seem like a small thing to some people, with Kyle having a limited diet this stands out to someone like him in the biggest way because they know that they were considered in the planning process.

Tim and Jenna, I hope this is one way you get to look back on your incredible day and remember how much fun you had and how much love was shared!

Liam Bosch-Fresh 48 Session {Lake Chelan Community Hospital}

June 8th has always been a favorite day because it just so happens that it is my half birthday but this year there's an actual birthday that happened on that day!  Now by this point you may remember that I absolutely adore birth stories and this sweet boy's parents graciously gave me permission to share some pieces of his spectacular entrance.  Joyce and Billy are close friends that we have gotten the privilege to know over the past two years as we planted a church together in Brewster. Getting to watch them as newlyweds to new parents has been so incredibly wonderful to watch! When they came to tell us that they were having a baby we were ecstatic and have been anticipating this boy ever since.

Fast labor and delivery stories are kind of the norm in Joyce's family so we were all hoping that she would follow that trend and be able to have a baby in her arms shortly after starting the labor process.  However, little Liam decided that he really needed a grand entrance and just following the family trend was not quite enough of a suspenseful entry.  All in all Joyce ended up being in labor for 31 hours!  Can you even imagine that?!  She is completely amazing and a rock star mama already!  I saw her less than 24 hours after Liam made his appearance and you would hardly be able to tell that she had just endured more than a full day of labor and delivery, she is just as glowing as these images suggest and Billy is the most attentive, excited daddy.  Joyce asked me to come and document some of Liam's first hours in the hospital and this made the photo journalist side of me so happy!  Photojournalism is not what I get to do every day and this was just so sweet!  This was the first time I'd ever been at the Chelan hospital and it is just as cozy and family friendly as you might imagine in a small town.  Happy first day little guy!  We love you already!
