Perry Family Winter Lake Session {Chelan}

I first met this sweet family last January when little miss Averi was born and I loved getting to document one of those first days!  For this session we just managed to catch one of the last snow filled days and chose a location overlooking Lake Chelan, I love the softness of the background that still manages to show the beauty of this valley.  

You have to be pretty brave to get your little ones out in the snow for a quick session in the winter but it's so worth it when we get a day like this!  When it comes to sessions with little people I make sure to keep them moving A LOT so they don't realize they are cold and usually that works pretty well!  Two girls is the complete opposite of me but this is how I get my girl fix!  If I could choose I would be a boy mom forever, but I do miss the little accessories and cute clothes that girls get to wear so whenever I have a session with all girls it just makes my heart happy since I still get to enjoy all the cuteness!

Rothlisberger Family Winter Session {Chelan}

 Last year we decided to make the change from visiting both of our families at Christmas to only visiting one side (whoever didn’t get the Thanksgiving visit).  And we spend Christmas day at our house.  It’s hard when you live away from family because Christmas is so much fun with cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents but I also really love the fact that our kids will get to have Christmas morning memories in their own house and we have loved the change and enjoyed the visits after Christmas even more I think!  The reason I’m telling you this is since we have been home for the holiday I was able to make some sessions happen that weren’t a possibility before because we would spend the whole break traveling.  

The Rothlisberger family was one that I was able to spend time with this year and they were hilarious! Once again I was able to do a legacy session with 3 generations and those types of sessions are quickly becoming a favorite because I can do so many different things with a big group of people!  We found a great spot and thankfully the weather was pretty great even though there was a little fog around the lake.  One of my favorite parts of this session was when I asked the family to do a silly face picture.  Typically that’s something I reserve more for families with little kids because the littles LOVE doing that but I just had a feeling that this family would be willing to step out of the box and the result was the best!  Grandpa decided to continue to throw silly faces into multiple family pictures and I was cracking up as I was editing because he was just too funny!  I love it when families genuinely have fun during our sessions and I’m pretty sure I accomplished that goal with this crew!

The Martin Family Generational Session {Cheney}

This Christmas I had the privilege of getting to do a generational session with a family that I have known and loved for the last decade.  5 years ago I was able to to shoot Hillary and Spencer’s wedding so I’m sure I met most of this extended family there but actually getting to sit down with them and hang out with all of them before they did their family Christmas was just so sweet!  It was the first time really meeting the original Martin couple, Jack and Phyllis, (even though I’m sure I briefly met them at the wedding).  

Jack contacted me to do family pictures of all of them since they were finally all together and since some of the members live far away this doesn’t always happen so I was incredibly honored to be part of this event.  We ended up doing mini sessions with all of the different smaller families and then put everyone together in the main house to capture everyone from the 2 month old youngest member to the starting duo, and let me tell you, I think sharing in the fun of a family gathering and documenting a legacy of these two was remarkable.  Whenever I share time with a family I get a pretty great idea of who that family really is and this one is pretty special!  I loved my time with them!
