Madison and I first started talking about her family's session a month or so ago but I asked her if we could see if we could do it the day of a fresh snow because that is always the best! And thankfully they were all about waiting for the right day! We live close to each other so it worked out great to be able to spontaneously go do pictures in the snow right after it came down and I LOVE how these turned out! If you're going to do pictures in the winter, the perfect day is always when it snows because this time of year can be really boring as far as landscapes go unless you get that extra magic of snow! I never quite know what kids will be like in front of the camera, even if I know them in real life, but Warren had a blast! He was all about jumping and throwing snow and being the cutest little guy. Rose wasn't quite sure what to think of the snow at first but she warmed up by the end and was so great at giving me her serious face which is extra adorable when you have the cutest puckered lips! We finished up the day with a couple of Christmas tree and fireplace pictures which were such a fun idea!
Rogge Family Forest and Snow Session {Alta Lake}
Saturday, December 21, 2019
We finally have real snow over here and it’s always a good Christmas when you get to have snow to make it that much more magical, especially for little kids who are enthralled with it! This session actually was not predicted to have snow during the time we planned but that didn’t last for long! Although this was the first time meeting the Rogge family, I was so happy when the snow didn’t bother them at all, in fact the end of the session ended with a family snowball fight!
I’ve never actually had a group willing to do something like that and it was a blast! Plus it was at the end so hair and outfits were already documented ;)
This group was so patient and happy! Even though I’m used to chasing little people around for photos it was a nice change to have everyone look at me and smile at the same time without busting out the “Baby Shark” song!
This family loves their Seahawks and the way that they incorporated that into their pictures was great since it really is part of their story and true to them! (I had them do a 12 sign but I actually have no idea if the Seahawks actually have a special sign so someone tell me if they do!)
Christianson Family Woods Session {Cheney}
Saturday, December 14, 2019
Not everyone has a photographer that they've known for almost two decades, but this girl and I have been through practically every stage of life together from crazy middle school to husbands and babies. Because of that bond, getting to hang out with her two littles means they are already my little models and Luke has a huge crush on me so we get a long great! When we chose this spot I had no idea the pine that had just been leveled so I was really excited when we got here and wearing their buffalo plaid meant I was able to take full advantage of the stacks of wood! Ally is so grown up now, even though I know as a kindergartner she still is little in reality, however, when you see the whole life span of someone it really is incredible how much change happens in such a short amount of time.
Our Christmas Tree Adventure {Okanogan County}
Wednesday, December 11, 2019
The past two years, our neighbors, or "Nana and Bear" as the kids call them, have let us tag along and get our Christmas tree, way up in the forest. We start off with coffee and cocoa in the truck and try to keep the busy boys occupied for the hour it takes to get up there, we follow the mountain roads and usually do a little off roading until we reach a spot we want to get a closer look, then we traipse through downed branches and snow to find the perfect trees! Once the main mission is complete we visit the cabin to do a little sledding (Roman fell asleep by that time). Kamden memorized every part of the trip from last year so he was very excited when he was able to do a little more adventurous sledding this year after his first attempt last year.
*Let it be noted that Roman now has appropriate boots for snow after Grammy took him shopping on Black Friday, because up to that point we hadn't gotten that far in our winter apparel search. ;)
Now that our tree has been decorated about 3 days it is currently home to several balls (not the ornamental variety, can you find them?!) and has been attacked by a foam bat by a child that is convinced ornaments are simply practice for t-ball so don't judge this decorating job too severely...
